His natural intelligence (more so than that of the ordinary DeMekrium worker) led him to join the Military Engineer Corps. He served two terms, learned all that he could and left the service of DeMekrium behind, going AWOL in his third term. The Aristocracy was still untouchable and living comfortably while he, with his intelligence, was living in the poverty of the worker's class. Von Krieg fixated on this until it became his only passion. He now plots his revenge on the upper class of DeMekrium or wherever he finds any type of Aristocracy. He knows it was meant for him!
